ARE MEALWORMS THE SAME AS SUPERWORMS?
No. Mealworms are the larvae of the Tenebrio Molitor beetle, Superworms are the larvae of the Zophobas Morio beetle. The two are commonly confused because of their similar appearance but are nutritionally quite different. Mealworms are more of a treat!
WHAT KIND OF CRICKETS DO WE BREED?
The house cricket or Acheta domestica is one of the most popular feeders for insectivorous and omnivorous reptiles, amphibians, and other species. Their popularity is mainly down to their low cost and availability, and they are also well balanced nutritionally when it comes to feeder insects. They are grey-brown in color and easily recognizable. As well as being a common feeder for pets, they are also a well-known delicacy for human consumption and are eaten in various ways, including fried and roasted.
BEST FEEDERS FOR CRESTED GECKOS?
Dubia roaches are one of the best live feeders for your crested gecko; they should be your primary feeder. Crickets are also nutritionally acceptable, You can also feed your crested gecko super worms, nutrigrubs, mealworms, wax worms, and silkworms to supplement your staple feeders. Be careful with the size of the insect you feed; they should be no bigger than the space between the eyes for insects with high amounts of chitin like superworms and mealworms, for softer feeders like hornworms and wax worms they can be a little bigger. If you feed insects that are too big, you risk impaction for your crested gecko.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET THE WRONG FEEDERS DELIVERED?
This doesn’t happen very often, but there is always a chance we may have a mix up when packing the order before heading out. If this happens, we apologize sincerely, contact us and we will fix the mistake as soon as possible!
